March 2021 Webinar: A Conversation with Ontario’s First Inspector General of Policing

A Conversation with Ontario’s First Inspector General of Policing Devon Clunis  Thursday, March 11 2021  Noon Est

Devon Clunis was recently appointed as the province of Ontario’s first Inspector General of Policing. In this new role, Devon will provide oversight of policing in Ontario and work with the government and its partners to develop regulations under the Community Safety and Policing Act. Devon was the first Black Canadian to become a Chief of Police in Winnipeg, where he had joined the service in 1987. This webinar will delve into Devon’s work transforming the Winnipeg Police Service into a modern model of policing that works in a proactive, community health and well-being focus rather than a reactive and crime focused model. Devon has been central to national conversations on policing and community relationships arising from the Black communities’ calls for justice in the delivery of policing services. He brings this breadth of experience and knowledge into his new appointment and this webinar will give us some insight into how that will take shape.

The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session. Please submit your questions for Devon to Jennifer Malloy at: JMALLOY@CAPG.CA
